
Counsel to the Inspector General
Terri M. Thompson (Acting)
Theresa M. (Terri) Thompson is NASA’s Acting Counsel to the Inspector General and Acting Investigative Counsel. She leads the Office of Legal Counsel, which provides legal advice to Office of Inspector General (OIG) managers, auditors, and investigators.
Thompson has been with NASA OIG for over 10 years in positions such as Deputy Counsel and Eastern Regional Counsel. Previously, she was a senior attorney in the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) Chief Counsel’s office and later detailed as the GSFC’s Chief of Staff. She is also a veteran with prior service as a Major in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps.
Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and received her law degree from the American University Washington College of Law in Washington, DC. She is admitted to the bars of the State of Illinois, DC, and the Federal Court of Claims.
