Assistant Inspector General for Management

Kathryn D. Sheehey

Kate Sheehey serves as the Assistant Inspector General for Management, a role she began in September 2024. In this capacity, she oversees the business functions of the NASA Office of Inspector General (OIG), including human resources (HR), budget and procurement, and information technology.

Prior to joining the NASA OIG, Kate served as the Executive Officer for the Tax Division, Department of Justice (DOJ), where she oversaw the offices of HR, Comptroller, Information Technology, Records Management, Litigation Support, Facilities and Security and the Division Counsel. Before moving to DOJ TAX, Kate served in a variety of roles, culminating with the Chief Management Officer position, at the DOJ Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). While at EOIR she received the Attorney General’s Award for Excellence in Administrative Support, as well as an award for Excellence in Management. Before joining DOJ, Kate served as a legislative analyst for health issues at the Office of Management and Budget, and as an analyst at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Office of Legislative Affairs. 

Kate received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy from the College of William and Mary, and her J.D. from the George Washington University School of Law.
