Assistant Inspector General for Audits
Brian T. Mullins (Acting)
As the Acting Assistant Inspector General for Audits, Brian Mullins is responsible for directing numerous audit teams, producing reports, and managing between 70 and 90 employees. Mr. Mullins’ oversight portfolio covers a wide range of topics across NASA including human exploration, International Space Station research, commercial space transportation, science and aeronautics research, information technology governance and security, physical infrastructure, contract management, and grant administration.
Prior to joining the OIG in October 2012, for 20 years Mr. Mullins held various positions at the U.S. Government Accountability Office, including most recently as an Assistant Director specializing in Department of Defense weapons acquisition programs and practices. From 2008 to 2011, Mr. Mullins was Legislative Advisor to the Comptroller General, with primary coverage of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives Committees on Armed Services, Veterans’ Affairs, International Relations/Foreign Affairs, and Intelligence. Mr. Mullins holds a Master of Public Administration from the Martin School at the University of Kentucky with a concentration in strategic planning and public program evaluation, organization, and theory.
