Upshur County Man Pleads Guilty to Conspiring to Fraudulently Obtain Unemployment and COVID-19 Benefits

Charleston, WV — Christopher Grant, 41, of Buckhannon, pleaded guilty today to conspiracy to steal public money, property or records. Grant admitted that he fraudulently obtained approximately $14,336 in unemployment benefits, including COVID-19 supplementary funds, and a $20,832 Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan guaranteed by the Small Business Administration (SBA) under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).
