Charleston, West Virginia—On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, McCayla Myers, 27, of Charleston, was sentenced to one year of federal probation and ordered to pay restitution in an amount to be determined for aiding and abetting theft of government money and Elizabeth Wells, 36, formerly of Cabin Creek, pleaded guilty to theft of public money, property, or records. Each woman admitted to a scheme to defraud the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) of COVID-19 relief loans guaranteed by the Small Business Administration (SBA) under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).
